Remembering Margaret Kupchella

It is with regret that we announce the  Jan. 11 death of Margaret Kupchella, the mother of President Emeritus Charles Kupchella, in Nanty Glo, Pa.  She was 91.

Margaret Marie (Buoite) Kupchella was born Dec. 23, 1921, to Valentino and Eugenia (Bombassi) Buoite.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Nanty Glo, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and sang in the choir at former St. Charles Church, Twin Rocks.  She was a member of the Democratic Women’s Committee and followed local and national politics daily.  She loved to bake and was noted for her cinnamon rolls.  She enjoyed gardening and sitting on her sun porch.  A crochet and knitting specialist, she taught the art to others.

She is survived by sons, Dr. Charles E. (Adele), Ebensburg, Pa., Dr. Thomas (Carol), Nanty Glo, James (Jan), Vinco, Pa., Dr. Lawrence, Nanty Glo, and Dr. Eugene (Dr. Regina), Southmont, Pa.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; son Philip; and sisters.
