Remembering Dorothy Fore

Dorothy “Corky” Fore, retired administrative secretary for Chemical Engineering, Died March 20, 2013, at Altru dorothy-foreHospital.  She was 83.

Dorothy Mae Fore was born on March 13, 1930 in Grand Forks to Olaf and Rena (Nygaard) Amundson. Dorothy grew up and attended Central High School in Grand Forks. In 1950 she married Donald Fore. In 1964 she returned to Grand Forks where she worked for Colburn School Supply and Sylvania Electronics;.

She then began employment with the University of North Dakota, where she worked at the Bookstore, Project Lignite, and the Chemical Engineering Department. She enjoyed weekend afternoon bingo, trips to the lake and going to the casino.

Dorothy is survived by her two daughters: Dawn Fore and Diane Fore and two grandchildren, Cole and Taylor, all of East Grand Forks, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Margaret Stauning, Lillian Hemenover, Maybelle Busby, Gladys Rosenberg, and Helen Schmuckel; brothers: Donald, Roy, and Art Amundson; and special friends: Howard Olson and Hank Gard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Circle of Friends Humane Society.
