Remembering Roy Loken

Roy T. Loken, Jr., Grand Forks, retired employee with Campus Postal Services, died Jan. 1, 2014, at home of natural causes. He was 60.

Roy Theodore Loken was born Feb. 15, 1953 to Roy Sr. and Glenna (Feist) Loken in Grand Forks. He was raised and attended school in Grand Forks. Roy was a hardworking and energetic man. Over the years, he was employed with Minnesota Dairy, Vilandre Heating and Plumbing. He began working for Campus Postal Services at UND as a courier July 1, 1985, until his retirement in March 2011.

As a loyal UND fan, he worked security at both Ralph Englestad Arenas. Roy married Wanda Kraft on April 7, 1978. They had four children together, Amanda, April, Bridget and Steven. In August 2009, Roy married Bev Coulter. Roy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and grand dogs, and was always his son’s biggest hockey fan.

Roy is survived by the mother of his children, Wanda (Kraft) Loken; his four children, Amanda Jimenez, April (Jason Bushee) Loken, Bridget (Damon) Pearson and Steven Loken, all of Grand Forks; two grandchildren, Summer Pearson and Wyatt Jimenez; his sister, Pat Haugland, Grand Forks, and her five children, Danielle (Scott) Anderson, Brendi (Haugland) Hendrickson, Ryan (Angie) Haugland, Amber (John) Tollefson and Wade (Stephanie) Haugland; several cousins and two grand dogs, Lillie and Mollie. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Liturgy: 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, in the Historic Norman Funeral Home-Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel, Grand Forks. Following the Liturgy, a luncheon will be served in the Gertrude Norman Fellowship Room.

Family Greeting: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday with a 5 p.m. vigil service in the funeral chapel. Family Greeting will continue for one hour prior to the liturgy in the funeral chapel on Monday.

Interment: Garden of the Evangelists’ Columbarium, Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, in the spring.
