Remembering Wayne McCormick

Wayne McCormick, retired UND Dining Services staff member, passed away at his sister’s home in Huntington Beach, Calif., after a brief illness. Wayne was born in Maddock, N.D., to Ray and Mable McCormick. Wayne was born with cerebral palsy, with a deformity of the left ankle. He attended Maddock Elementary School. He also attended Camp Grassick, in Lake Isabel, for speech and physical therapy.

Wayne was accepted to the Grand Forks Vocational Rehabilitation Center in April 1969 for a program at the occupational training program at UND. Wayne retired in 2013 after 44 years in the food services at UND. He loved riding his e-bike and flying to California to visit his sister, Linda, and family. Wayne was a member of the Grand Forks Senior Center and Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He is survived by his sister, Linda (McCormick) Trower of Huntington Beach, Calif.

Wayne will be buried at Antelope Valley Cemetery in Oberon, N.D.
