Remembering Geralyn Lunski

Geralyn Leiran Lunski, administrative assistant in the surgery department at the School of Medicine & Health Sciences, passed away after a long battle with breast cancer on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at her home in East Grand Forks, surrounded by her loving family. She was 56.

 Geralyn was born on March 21, 1962, in Crookston, Minn., to Gerald and Darlene (Casavan) Leiran. She was raised in Badger, Minn., and graduated from Badger High School. Afterwards, she attended the University of Minnesota in Crookston.
She then worked at the Grafton Developmental Center for 10 years with the mentally handicapped. Following her employment she then graduated from the Area Vocational Technical College in East Grand Forks. On Aug. 15, 1992, she was married to Mark Lunski at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Badger, and the family made their home in Minto, N.D.
They moved to East Grand Forks and she found her calling at the University of North Dakota with the Department of Surgery, where she worked for 25 years. While employed at there, she met tons of people and made lots of close friends who would soon become like family to her.

Cherished family members of Geralyn include her husband, Mark Lunski and children, Kyler and Karisa Lunski all of East Grand Forks; mother, Darlene Hanson of New York Mills, MN; brothers, Keith (Tonya) Leiran of New York Mills, MN, and Kevin (Barb) Leiran of St. Paul, MN; sisters, Stacy Leiran of Pheonix, AZ, and Kari Leiran of Roseau, MN; and close friend, Lori Anderson of Thompson, ND; as well as many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Leiran.

Memorial Service: 10:30 AM on Monday, April 30, 2018 in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND
Visitation: One Hour Prior Memorial Service on Monday in St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
Interment: St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Badger, MN ~ Spring 2018
