Remembering Margaret Kiel

Margaret “Peggy” Kiel, 71, retired food service worker, Grand Forks, died Monday, May 28, 2018 in her home.

Peggy was born Nov. 30, 1946, the daughter of John and Lulu (Beiseker) Ruddy. She grew up in Grand Forks, graduating from Central High School in 1964. She married Richard Kiel on June 24, 1966.

Peggy starting working for UND Food Services in the early 1970s until her retirement. After she retired, Peggy found her passion working with developmentally disabled clients with Developmental Homes Inc. and Agassiz Enterprise as a caregiver. She enjoyed taking her clients out for dinners and road trips. She also enjoyed helping at her church, the 1st Church of God, and spending time with her siblings.

Peggy is survived by her husband: Dick Kiel; daughter Nicole Kiel and son-in-law Brian Paschke; “daughter” Kim Audette; siblings: Tom (Kay) Ruddy; Carmen Jorgenson; Susan (Jim) Melville; Jacqueline (Dick) Fichtner; Rita Kirwin; Dale Burgeson; many nieces and nephews that were very important to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents John “Judy” and Lulu Ruddy, and her sister Marilyn Burgeson.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m.at Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the start of the service.

Memorial service will be held Friday, June 1, at 2 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home.
