Remembering Karen Cloud

Karen Ann Cloud, retired administrative assistant at the Chester Fritz Library, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Aug. 15 at Altru Hospital after a two-and-a-half year courageous battle with liver cancer. She was 71.

Karen was born in Dickinson, N.D., on Nov. 16, 1946.  Her parents were Margaret and Fred Mann.  Karen graduated from Dickinson Central High School in 1964.  She then graduated from Rapid City Business School.

Karen married Jerry Cloud and was blessed with 3 beautiful children, Jill (JJ) Linn of Pierre, SD, Jodi Cloud (fiancé Thomas Cline) of Pierre, SD and Michael (Heidi) Cloud of Longmont, CO.  She graduated from UND and was the administrative assistant at UND’s Chester Fritz Library for many years.  She retired in November of 2012.  Karen also worked for Lipp Carlson Witocki and Associates.

Karen is survived by her partner, of 27 years, Jay Zimmerman of Grand Forks, her 3 children, 5 grandchildren, brother Don Mann of Kalispell, MT, sister Kathy (Greg) Schneider of Grand Forks and 8 nieces and nephews.
