Remembering Diane Holweger

Diane Holweger, retired food service worker, Grand Forks, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. She was 74.

Diane Renee Ramstad was born on July 28, 1947 in Hatton, ND, the fourth child to Sanford and Jean (Gulbrandson) Ramstad. She was raised in the Hatton and Grand Forks areas and graduated from Central High School in Grand Forks.

Diane married Robert “Bob” Redfield in 1966 and they had three daughters. They lived in many US cities and in Germany during their marriage – until Diane and the girls returned to the Grand Forks area. Diane married Jerry Holweger in 1985 and they settled in Arvilla, ND.

Diane worked tirelessly in the service industry including many years at University of North Dakota dining, Ralph Engelstad Arena custodial, and in group homes as a support professional.

Diane excelled in many hobbies including painting ceramics, decorating cakes, and crocheting. She was also an avid reader.

Survivors include her children: Nancy (Frank) Stoker, New Port Richey, FL, Sherry Zeman (Rod
Freitag), East Grand Forks, MN, and Tina (Bryan) Murphy, Belgrade, MT; grandchildren: Cody
(Larissa) Zeman, Adam Wetsch, Hunter Zeman, Evan Wetsch, Jordan Shockey, Aidan Wetsch,
Zane Shockey, and Kylee Shockey; great-grandchildren: Walker Zeman and Willa Zeman; sister
LaVonne (Norris) Nelson; special friend Julian Holweger; and five nieces and nephews.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry Holweger, a sister Sandra Thomas, and her brother Eric Ramstad.

A small family service will be held in later August at the Northwood Cemetery, Northwood, ND. Check back for times.
