Special event in remembrance of Tamar Read is Oct. 8

A remembrance for Tamar Read will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8, at Family of God (FOG) Church, located at 327 5th Avenue SE in East Grand Forks, Minn.

Please join us for an afternoon of music, teachings of the Buddha, personal remembrances and fellowship. A social hour with light refreshments will follow.

Tamar passed away this spring at the age of 101 after a life of service to others. She was a beloved meditation teacher who founded the Lotus Meditation Center in 1997, which is still in operation at UND and FOG.

As a violinist and member of the UND Music faculty for more than 30 years, and founder of the Collegium Musicum, Tamar shared her love for music across campus and throughout the community. Her generosity stands out through her contributions to the North Dakota Museum of Art Chamber Music Program, Lotus Meditation Center, Northland Rescue Mission, Northern Valley Youth Orchestra, and numerous other entities.

Hosts for the Oct. 8 event include Lotus Meditation Center, Family of God Church, and friends of Tamar Read.
