Remembering Harvey Jacobson

In an effort to help keep the campus community informed, “In Remembrance” publishes notices about the deaths of faculty or staff who have retired from the University.

“In Remembrance” posts must be requested by a family member or representative of the family for the individual, or the UND department that the individual worked for (with the permission of the family or next-of-kin).

Harvey K. Jacobson, 93, former vice president for University Relations, died Dec. 8, 2023, in Oshkosh, Wis.

Under then-UND President George Starcher, Jacobson created the Office of University Relations in the late 1950s. He led the division for several years before moving on to positions at the University of Michigan and later the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where he served as a professor of journalism until his retirement.
