SMHS Student Affairs & Admissions News

Welcome!

Greetings, Medical Students, and welcome to the inaugural issue of the SMHS Office of Student Affairs & Admissions newsletter Grand Rounds.

Our office will now send out a semi-monthly newsletter designed to provide “just in time” information or (even better) information just slightly before you need it concerning everything from financial aid and curriculum news to admissions updates and policy changes. The documents should serve as good resources, now and in the future. This newsletter’s content can also be found online at: https://blogs.und.edu/grand-rounds.

There will be different sections for each educational level. Each newsletter will start out with words of wisdom (“What I Wish I Would Have Known”) from someone who has gone through the medical school process before. There will also be a section called “Something for Everybody” which will address something that students at any educational level might come across. There is also “From the Campuses” that will provide information on what it going on at each of the campuses.

Here is where you will find information on AOA, the lottery, ERAS and VSAS tokens, the match, financial aid and literacy information and last but not least, “Know your acronyms” (VSAS/VSLO, LCME, USMLE, NRMP, ERAS).

These newsletters will be emailed once a month and we will archive them on the Student Affairs & Admissions website so you can review them later, should you need. I am hoping that this will consolidate information you need in one easy-to-find location rather than forcing you to search through hundreds of emails to try to find what you are looking for.

Enjoy,

Dr. Joycelyn Dorscher
Associate Dean, Student Affairs and Admissions
