In a Feb. 27 ceremony, UND celebrated the formal dedication of a partnership with the North Dakota Department of Transportation that will provide research for the agency, while offering valuable educational opportunities for both graduate and undergraduate students.

The UND community is invited to join us with the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) to formally celebrate the opening of the Technology Transportation Research Institute. Following the ceremony, everyone is welcome to join us for refreshments and conversations.

A centennial milestone later, UND civil engineering students are still find community and success among their peers.

In ASCE’s Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, a Civil Engineering Ph.D. graduate’s dissertation has been featured as the Editor’s Choice paper.

A graduate student’s final project represents years of hard work, backed by a full understanding of their academic discipline. For many, that final project is the crowning achievement of their early academic careers.

An investiture ceremony was held on Thursday, January 19, celebrating Terry Severson and Michael & Sitney Lodoen. “It was an honor to highlight the incredible impact both have had on the University, faculty, and, ultimately, our students,” said Brian Tande, dean of the College of Engineering & Mines. “We look forward to seeing how their support continues to advance the educational experience offered at UND.”

Sattar Dorafshan, assistant professor of civil engineering at UND, has been awarded multiple research grants in recent months from the North Dakota Department of Transportation, as well as an award from the Federal Railroad Administration.

Aviation faculty and administrators say they are grateful for the funding that will complete work on the Bravo apron, in a project being worked on by a Civil Engineering student.

New partnership – latest in series with liberal-arts colleges – offers students at Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio, a chance to earn UND Engineering degree.
