Transitioning Form Assets to the New Forms Module

Our Modern Campus/Omni content management system (CMS) is transitioning from form assets to a new Forms Module to improve security and long-term maintainability. The form asset system is over 15 years old and is being retired by Modern Campus in 2026.

What’s Changing

  • The new Forms Module replaces form assets entirely.
  • Forms can now be reused across multiple domains. For example, a form created in the campus.UND.edu domain can also be used on the main UND.edu site.
  • Security is improved with AI driven data redaction, required reCAPTCHA, and secure access to submissions. However, we’ve noticed issues with the Modern Campus system automatically deleting content like an EMPLID on some forms but not on others.

Modern Campus Form Asset Decommissioning Timeline

  • March 26, 2026: Creation of new asset forms disabled. This means you can no longer create or copy form assets.
  • July 2026: Editing of existing asset forms disabled.
  • November 2026: Full removal of asset forms from the CMS.

UND Form Transition Plan

To prepare for this change, all 200+ form assets created in the CMS will be manually transitioned to the new Forms Module by Marketing & Communications (M&C) before the start of the Fall semester. Unfortunately, only site administrators can transition forms.

M&C will work directly with website content owners throughout this process to ensure a smooth transition and to prevent any loss of form data.

Existing forms on live webpages will continue to function until they are officially transitioned. However, any new forms must now be created using the Forms Module.

What to Expect

  1. Notification: M&C will contact website and form owners when it’s time to transition their forms.
  2. Implementation: New forms will be built in the Forms Module and published on the same webpages as the existing forms.
  3. Verification: M&C will work with content owners to confirm that submissions are being received and that each form is functioning correctly.

Accessing Form Submission Data

With the new Forms Module, Modern Campus no longer supports receiving form submissions via email.

Instead, users will need to log in to Modern Campus to view submissions. Data can be:

  • Viewed directly within the platform, or
  • Downloaded as a spreadsheet

All users with access to the UND website will automatically be able to view form submission data. If someone needs access but does not currently have it, they can request access during the transition process. Single user sign on with NDUS identifier will be required. Shared email addresses can not be added as Modern Campus users.

Accessibility Guidance

If a form does not require a signature or login, Modern Campus forms remain the best option for meeting accessibility compliance requirements. Modern Campus forms provide structured, keyboard-navigable, and screen reader-friendly experiences that are significantly more accessible and compliant than static PDF forms.
