UND to Launch Web Refresh Project
UND’s Division of Marketing & Communication (M&C) is partnering with iFactory and Modern Campus to refresh websites in the Modern Campus (Omni) content management system (CMS). This project will modernize the look and feel of UND’s websites to align with UND’s branding while updating the revised code to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards. The refresh will not change the site’s navigation structure.
This refresh is required for legal accessibility compliance and ensures the website reflects UND’s evolved brand, which has become more visually dynamic since the full-scale web redesign in 2017.
What to Expect
- All Modern Campus (Omni) CMS websites are included. There is no opt-out option. This ensures consistency in accessibility and branding across all UND web properties.
- Design elements will look different, but content remains the same. This is a visual update only. There will be no changes to your existing content, files, images or navigation structures.
- Minimal work is expected from CMS users. Most changes will happen behind the scenes with no work required from web content editors. However, sites that include pasted-in formatting (such as custom fonts or colors) or custom coding may need clean-up. M&C will provide guidance when needed.
Statement of Work
iFactory will lead research, discovery and design. Modern Campus, our CMS provider, will handle the backend work.
The project has four phases:
-
- Research and discovery. iFactory will inventory how the brand is applied in marketing materials and host a campus-wide virtual town hall to gather input on desired changes.
- Concepting and design. Most templates and snippets will be updated. The goal is to enhance accessibility and strengthen visual consistency across the site. M&C will approve designs.
- Development and testing. Code will be updated, optimized for performance and tested. All updates will be validated against WCAG 2.2 Level AA accessibility standards.
- Rollout and training. A launch and training plan will be developed for CMS users. It is not yet known whether updates will be released all at once or on a rolling basis.
Timeline
Work begins in January 2026. Full implementation is anticipated to take up to eight months.
